Spatial-Temporal Distribution of Malaria Risk and Its Association With El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO)

چکیده

Sarawak recorded the second-highest number of cases since 2013 until 2017 after Sabah. is largest state in Malaysia and needs to provide spatial information, especially ministry health. The objective this study was examine impact El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on distribution malaria risk maps. To achieve objectives requires Oceanic Niño Index (ONI) data, Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), daily temperature, secondary data Sarawak. results clearly show that occurrence La Niña affects total Malaria also related ONI value. lower value causes case decrease. suggest most hot spots forest, forest fringe, inland areas This shows lack knowledge causing rural population be prone malaria. Ministry Health focus interior disseminating teachings dealing with mosquitoes.

Effects of the El Niño--Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycle on mosquito populations in southern California.

The abundance and species composition of adult mosquitoes collected by carbon dioxide-baited suction traps and gravid traps in western Los Angeles County, CA, were compared before and during a strong El Niño--Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycle from December 1996 until November 1999. Following El Niño conditions in the winter 1997-1998, adult host-seeking mosquito abundance during spring was twic...

Cholera dynamics and El Niño-Southern Oscillation.

Analysis of a monthly 18-year cholera time series from Bangladesh shows that the temporal variability of cholera exhibits an interannual component at the dominant frequency of El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Results from nonlinear time series analysis support a role for both ENSO and previous disease levels in the dynamics of cholera. Cholera patterns are linked to the previously described...

El Niño-Southern Oscillation frequency cascade.

The El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon, the most pronounced feature of internally generated climate variability, occurs on interannual timescales and impacts the global climate system through an interaction with the annual cycle. The tight coupling between ENSO and the annual cycle is particularly pronounced over the tropical Western Pacific. Here we show that this nonlinear interac...

Predicting high-risk years for malaria in Colombia using parameters of El Niño Southern Oscillation.

The interannual variation in malaria cases in Colombia between 1960 and 1992 shows a close association with a periodic climatic phenomenon known as El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Compared with other years, malaria cases increased by 17.3% during a Niño year and by 35.1% in the post-Niño year. The annual total number of malaria cases is also strongly correlated (r = 0.62, P < 0.001) with s...

Waves of El Niño-Southern Oscillation and Influenza Pandemics

Influenza pandemics has occurred at irregular intervals for over 500 years, unlike seasonal influenza epidemics which occur annually. Although the risk factors are known, the basis for the timing of influenza pandemic waves are unknown. Coherence of peaks of El Niño and influenza pandemic in 2009–2010, however, suggest that both waves are coupled. This study was done to determine the relation o...
